One of the most favorite meals all over the world is steak. Cooking it perfectly requires mastering the cooking techniques. Depending on your personal taste, you can cook the perfect steak on a stove or grill. You may also fry it.
Oven roasting is a common technique for cooking steak, especially in restaurants.
Restaurants often use this method of cooking steak, but it requires two steps:
Pre-heat the oven to 450 degrees F and grab a heavy frying pan that’s oven-safe (like one of those black cast iron skillets your mom used to use). Turn the burner or element on high heat, and warm up that skillet until it’s piping hot. Drop a teaspoon of oil in the pan and let it heat up. Using tongs, gently put the steak in the pan and sear it for about 90 seconds on each side. This locks in the juices. Now, place the pan in the oven to finish cooking. Roast the meat for 6-9 minutes, depending on how you like it cooked.
In the absence of an iron skillet, you may use a regular frying pan. You can sear the steak there and place the juices to an oven-safe pan to complete the roasting process.
Frying is the simplest way to cook steak. Place your frying pan in the stove with medium heat. Pour a teaspoon of oil. After a minute, you can lay the steak in the pan. Covering the pan is recommended since there will be too much smoke.
Another way to cook steak is by grilling. You must know an important tip for the marinade before cooking steak using this technique.
Marinating must be done not earlier than 2-3 hours of the grilling, unless it is a flank steak, in which case it can be marinated overnight. Acidic liquids are the best marinades, such as curds, lemon juice and tomato juice; even whiskey and wine. Marinades make the steaks tender and easier to grill. Another important factor for the grilling is the barbeque grill. It is wise to buy decent charcoal and lighter fluid. Cheap varieties would burn non-uniformly and this would not grill the steak evenly.
