Immune-Boosting Recipes that can Keep You Away from Sickness

A strong immunity will protect you from coughs, colds, and other forms of sickness. Enough rest, performing physical activities regularly, avoiding unhealthy foods and drinks, and proper nutrition will help provide you with maximum protection.

One way to take good care of your immune system is by including superfoods to your diet. Yogurt, for example, offers many health benefits.

See below the yummy recipe for immunity-booster smoothie with yogurt and mixed fruits. Choose yogurt that contains live, active, and good bacteria. It has probiotics that can improve digestion and strengthen your immune system when consumed in adequate amounts.

Ingredients

1/2 cup plain yogurt 1.1 or 2%

2 tbsp milk

1 banana, broken into 3 pieces

1 cup frozen sliced strawberries, blueberries or mixed berries

1 tsp brown sugar (optional)

Instructions: Place yogurt and milk in blender. Top with banana, then berries. Set blender to purée and pulse until smooth. You may need to scrape down sides and stir occasionally. If very thick, thin with a bit more milk. Taste and add brown sugar, if you like. Serve immediately.

When selecting meal or snacks for your family, make sure that they contain zinc. This mineral supports the immune system. It reduces the risk of getting colds and flu. It also helps fight infection.

Zinc can be found in shellfish, oysters, eggs, meat, whole grains, and beans. Below is a quick dip recipe that is high in zinc. Try it!

3 tablespoons chives, chopped

Directions:

Pulse all ingredients except chives in food processor until a smooth paste forms and transfer to a bowl. Serve on bruschetta and garnish with chopped chives.
